1. The incident Ben describes which occurred in the bathroom when he was 14 years old is very unusual and may not be believable to you at first. List some events, which follows that support the story.
2. Ben was tremendously changed by the event mentioned in question#1; as a result he did some things which determined the direction of his future. What were they?
3. Explain what Ben meant, "It’s not what you know but the kind of job you do that makes the difference." Is he referring to education? What is the difference he is talking about?

Because becoming a scientist or a surgeon is always difficult, stories of success in spite of adversity can provide an inspirational, engaging read. Recent examples include a magazine profile of geneticist Mario R. Capecchi and an autobiographical book by pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
The August, 1999 issue of Scientific American profiled Capecchi, who is responsible for developing techniques allowing targeted insertion and deletion of genes in mice. His life is fascinating not only in terms of his professional accomplishments but in terms of what he overcame in his youth before reaching such a high level of success. Capecchi was a boy in northern Italy during World War II and ended up living on the streets alone. His nutrition was so bad that he is much shorter today than he would otherwise have been predicted to be. After the war, he came to America and entered school at the age of nine with little education and knowing no English. Despite this inauspicious beginning, Carpecchi attended graduate school at Harvard and went on to become a renowned scientist.

Toy Story 3 and the new Ghostbusters movie are confirmed and being made. Toy Story 3 is coming out in the middle of the year, and they’re about to start shooting Ghostbusters. Spiderman 4 was cancelled, and haven’t heard anything about Cars 2.

The movie that I really liked was Sherlock Holmes ( this was a back up movie as Avatar was all sold out) as movie really had allot of action and fighting. In other words it really moved along without dragging on as I didn’t even check my watch too busy being engaged in the movie.
If you never been a big fan of Holmes and found it kind of dry and boring this version really is kicked up a couple notches. This isn’t your Grandfathers’ Sherlock Holmes.
I also thought the acting by Robert Downy and chemistry he had with Jude Law (played his partner Dr.Watson) was top notch.
Can’t wait until they make another movie in this anthology as Holmes battle his nemesis Professor Moriarty.

i just got enternet in my room but when i plug it into my computer (does not require ethernet card and the port is fine) the light blinks like it should but the little thingy by the clock doesent pop up and its not reading the connection is any setup wizard

The port is not fine. Since you reinstalled XP, you deleted all the software on the computer that makes it work correctly. This is why your ethernet port isnt working. You need to download the drivers for all of your hardware so they can function correctly. This includes drivers for your motherboard, ethernet card, graphics card, printers, etc…You can get these files from the manufacturer’s website.

Made an offer on a home, now all of the sudden there is another offer?
My fiance and I have been looking for a house for about 5 months. (Trying to get in on this tax credit you see.) I will be honest that our price range was maxed out at about $140K or so. Well, we ran into a home that we loved, listed for 139,900. It was also eligible for 100% USDA financing! Hooray! (This saves us on the Private Mortgage Insurance required for FHA loans.)
The house has been on the market a little over a year, and the price was just recently lowered $5K. We made an original offer yesterday of $134K, and asked for closing costs to be covered by the seller. They countered with $139K and offered to cover closing costs. When my agent called to make another counter, all of the sudden there was another offer on the table in the past few hours! We tried to accept the original seller counter of $139K with seller paying closing costs, which they verbally accepted. Well, apparently the other party raised their offer even more, so now both parties are in a situation where they must have their best offer on the table by noon tomorrow.
A few things concern me here. First of all, I am so torn. I love this house. We have looked at over 50 houses and this is the best mix of quality, location, and 100% financing with no need for Mortgage Insurance is HUGE! On the other hand I keep wondering the chances of the listing agent making this story up about the other offer. How common is this?? Any advice for this situation?
It doesn’t matter, only finance for what you can afford. If the other person wants to go higher let them. There are plenty of homes, and I am sure sometimes they pull some tricks but even if they are not, if there is anything to be learned from the recession, hopefully it’s that you should only offer what you can afford and only pay what you think is reasonable and worth it in your opinion.

If someone wants a house as badly as you do, yes they will raise their offer, and yes sometimes agents ( or anyone who makes commission off any large purchase) can lie to make more money off you.
Since you’ve only been looking for five months, don’t be down if you don’t get the house. I’d suggest finding something well below the 140k$, or coming up with a down payment.

Don’t do it. seriously. They aren’t coming down much for something on the market for so long.
Don’t worry about PMI. Talk to another bank. You can get a 20/80 loan and not pay PMI.
You still have a few months for the tax credit.
Don’t get into a bidding war. You will find something better. I would start by getting a new REALTOR!!! It is probably WAY over-priced to sit that long. Ask your realtor for comps, then dump the realtor. They probably are lying, but you will never know.

This is not unusual. Typically, when a house gets reduced to the point to entice offers, multiple offers come in. Now that people are interested, a bidding war will ensue.
This is what I tell my clients in this situation: How much do you love the house? If it is *the house*, I suggest they stay in the bidding. If not, we move on.
If the listing agent is making this up, it is a sure fire way of losing their license. And to the poster that suggests that this is your agents fault, that is hog wash.

Searching a home might become a very stressful journey if it takes more than three months. Two offers in the same time rarely happens but it happens especially the owner reduced the price recently, even the home is on the market long time. What you can do now is give your best offer with the best terms that you can do and cross your fingers. If you cannot get this one, you may want to look at the same neighborhood to find a similar home. I generally tell my Dallas clients to work on contract terms, sometimes the home owners need to move out, sell immediately or needs more time after closing, and if you can match their needs you may have more chance to get the home. Price is not the only motivation when selling a house. Best wishes and good luck

I need a clay and glaze I can fire in the oven (not a kiln)?
I don’t have a kiln. I want to make soap dishes. Is there a clay/glaze combo that will work in a conventional oven?
Not that I can think of. I’m not so sure that’s a good idea anyway, because of possible fumes and chemical residue.
Now, there might be some glazes that don’t have to be fired. Ask at your local hobby shop and see what you find.
