IMDB rating: 9.99

Plot: Cheech & Chong are invited to a celebrity party/festival in Amsterdam. When they get there, however, it turns out that the guy who invited them has taken off with all the money, and the rest of the hosts have a VERY limited budget. They are actually expecting Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton, so our heroes gets to be Mr. Burt and Mr. Dolly. We follow them around Amsterdam, at their hotel, (still) smokin’ joints and doing shows.

2005 Mustang GT lights question?
Quick question: I was on the side of the road trying to round up my neighbors dog (irrelevant) and saw a smokin hot black mustang 2005-09 model stroll by with these headlights that were blue circles that were sort of like the audi headlights. They were not bright, but noticeable. I tried looking up the product on my own, but came short.
I run a 2005 Mustang GT and can do all replacements needed, all i am looking for is what these headlights would be, or even better, a direct link.

Hope i provided sufficient detail, and thank you!

IMDB rating: 6.50

Plot: Cheery Alex Fletcher lives comfortably in Manhattan off the residuals from his 80’s pop success and reprising his hits at school reunions, theme parks, and state fairs. But those gigs are declining, so he jumps at the chance to write a song and record it with reigning teen idol Cora Corman. Trouble is, he’s good at melodies but needs a lyricist and has less than a week to finish. Enter Sophie Fisher, subbing for a friend who waters Alex’s plants; she’s a pretty good poet, quick witted, and could do it, if she’d agree. But there’s some sort of shadow over her head that Alex may not be able to charm his way past. And what if they do get a song written, what then?

Job owes my husband money and won't pay it, what can I do?
Hey everyone, here is some background info. I’m sorry this is so long, but I really need some help.

He worked at a restaurant in Georgia.
He has now quit that job because of this issue just 2 weeks ago.

I spoke to the DOL about it and since he made over minimum wage they can’t enforce anything. I called the restaurant… but there has been some bad blood. They tell me that because the manager that gave him his raise wasn’t authorized to do so that my husband isn’t owed the money.

How the money ended up missing is that every paycheck since Sept. 09′ had him clocked in for a couple of hours at his "old" lesser hourly wage. And they told me that this corporation had a strict rule about no one getting over a $0.65 raise, but my husband got a dollar they say because the manager went about it wrong and said manager was demoted. Might I add that AFTER this manager was demoted to another restaurant that my husband STILL received his $1.00 raise even on his very last paycheck.

When my husband worked there, his direct manager said he would correct the issue.
It added up to a total of $85 and some change.

To sue in small claims it would COST $71. I don’t mind suing… I can save up that money in a few weeks. I’m just in tears right now because it hurts my heart to know that they can get away with this. Does ANYONE have any thoughts? A battle plan? A recommendation? ANYTHING would help right now! It’s not right that there is nothing to protect people who don’t have the money to sue you know.

Thanks for reading.
The federal DOL blew me off immediately and sent me to the GA dol… and it was they who informed me that basically they couldn’t do a thing.

It’s not clear to me how you are arriving at the conclusion that he was shortchanged $85. At some unspecified point in time in the past your husband was given a raise in his hourly wage of $1.00. You seem to be saying that since September 2009 he was being paid $1.00 less an hour for some of his hours and still getting paid the $1.00 increase on the rest of his hours. Is the shortage based on:

1. The belief that he should have been entitled to the $1.00 per hour increase in wage since September 2009 for all hours regardless of whether it was properly authorized (you would lose this argument in court); or

2. The belief that he should have been entitled to the maximum $0.65 raise?

Also is the $85 dollar shortfall the total for his wages from September until the date he quit, or is it $85 per pay period? If it is the former it really doesn’t seem worth the effort to pursue a claim in court. If it is the latter it might be worth it because he could potentially recover several hundreds of dollars but you have to consider whether he could actually win the case.

If your husband is paid an hourly wage he is most likely an at-will employee which means the restaurant can adjust his wages in any manner it pleases as long as they are not adjusted below minimum wage and as long as it notifies him of the change prior to any hours worked for which it starts to pay the lower wage. If there is nothing in writing memorializing the decrease in hourly wage, the resolution of the claim will depend on whom the magistrate believes is telling the truth about what the restaurant said to your husband regarding the reduction in hourly wage and when it occurred.

While it is not relevant to his situation, one can bring a small claim in the Magistrate Court of the appropriate county for a claim of up to $15,000, not $5,000.

In Magistrate Courts in Georgia, either party can have a lawyer represent them in court. The owner does not have to show up in court. While cases generally proceed much faster in a Magistrate Court, it can still take several months from the time a claim is filed to resolve the claim in court. In addition, the losing party has a right to appeal to a higher court which can delay resolution of the claim for another month or more.

You should also be aware that, when filing against an incorporated defendant, which is what the restaurant probably is, you have to file your claim in the Magistrate Court of the county where the registered agent of the corporation is located. This is often not the county where the restaurant is located. You should get the legal name of the corporation that owns the restaurant (it is often not the the same name as the restaurant’s name) and look up the county location of the registered agent online at http://sos.georgia.gov/corporations/ if you decide to go forward with a claim against the restaurant. One way to find out the legal name is to visit the restaurant and look at the restaurant’s liquor license or other permits or licenses which might be conspicously displayed to the public.

I live in the UK so not sure if same applies but you can take them to a work tribunal which should be funded by the state. A tribunal is an informal meeting between the two parties where a facilitator will over look the proceedings, and make a decision. Hope this helps at all.
malteser94 | Jan 14, 2010

$85 is $85 but it might really be easier in the long run to just mark this down to a learning experience. You said you contacted the DOL was that the federal or state DOL. If it was the Federal you might consider contacting the state’s version.
WRG | Jan 14, 2010

Small claims court is your best bet if the total you’re asking for is under $5000.

If you want to be nice, inform the restaurant’s management that if they refuse to pay, you will take them to court. If they refuse, or don’t answer within a reasonable amount of time (I think a week is reasonable) then go ahead and file. Don’t just say "Gimme money or we’ll sue!", prepare a proper complaint letter along with evidence showing what is owed. If that doesn’t work, then go ahead and file.

Neither you, nor the restaurant, can use a lawyer in court. The owner MUST show up to defend himself, or the judge will automatically find in your favor. There is no jury. You show up, present your case and evidence, the owner of the restaurant will do the same, then the judge issues a decision. If you’ve seen those "Judge So-and-so" type shows on TV, it’s pretty much like that – just without the actors.

While you can’t ask for "pain and suffering" like most lawsuits do, you can (and should!) ask for the actual amount due, the cost of filing the case ($71) plus wages for missing work that day to show up to court.

Gather your old paychecks and any other evidence of the raise and how it’s missing.

More than likely, the restaurant will try to settle before the case shows up in court. If so, at least get the amount due and the cost of the filing.

Of course the restaurant may still refuse to pay even after judgment has been levied against them. In that case, you may want to call your local news station’s trouble shooter. You know, that segment where the reporter goes out and asks the owner of a local company why he’s screwing over a local viewer? Even if you never get any money out of the deal, the negative publicity alone will essentially bankrupt the restaurant or at least force that owner out of business.

Plot: Sam Stone is a clothing manufacturer, who married his wife Barbara, for the money that she was suppose to inherit from her dying father, but her father didn’t die for another fifteen years. He is now planning to kill her and is on his way home to do just that but when he gets there, she’s not there. He then receives a call from someone claiming to have kidnapped Barbara and threatening to kill her if he informs the police, which he does hoping that they do. What Stone doesn’t know is that the kidnappers, Ken and Sandy are a couple whose idea for a garment he stole and made fortune off, are not that lethal, as a matter of fact Barbara’s more lethal. And what Stone doesn’t know is that his girlfriend, Carol, has another boyfriend and they plan to blackmail Sam, by videotaping him disposing of Barbara’s body. When her boyfriend, Earl goes there to do that, the person who goes there was not Sam but a guy with a hooker, and the guy instructs the hooker to scream her head off, Earl mistakenly believes that Barbara’s not dead and that Sam was killing her there, and was so freaked out that he didn’t bother to see if it was Sam. And Carol tries to put her plan in operation by sending Sam a copy of the tape, Sam thinks that it’s for something kinky that Carol wants and when Sam tells her that he is going to do what was done on the tape to her, she assumes that he is going to kill her. So she sends another copy of the tape to the Chief of Police, and tells him that she wants him to arrest Sam for murdering Barbara, and the Chief is happy to oblige cause he is the guy who is on the tape. The Chief manages to find the instruments that Sam was going to use to kill Barbara and arrests him. Sam now has to get Barbara, alive, so that he can prove that he didn’t kill her. And Barbara starts to bond with Sandy.

Is there ever any place for emotion when in a leadership position ?
History has proven that all the great leaders have been above all else ruthless . Bearing this in mind why don’t all the emotionally weak so called liberal people just go and work in the social services or child care or nursing and leave the decisions to be made by higher personality types ?

I think you need to lead with all those qualities not one or the other as this sort of thinking could cause wars though while I agree with you that liberals would be better suited doing rather than just saying. I think a great leader needs to lead with a certain amount of emotion towards his people or otherwise face a revolt. An intelligent country isn’t easy to run unless your empathic with those around you ruling with an iron fist is all well and good but without a happy public the country goes to pot!

Only if your leading a bunch of crybabies.
M S | Feb 04, 2010

good leaders have the ability to lead others, they are seen to be fair, they have communications skills and empathy. bullying or intimidating others to do what you want isn’t a good leader.
Julia | Feb 04, 2010

Maybe because to be a truly great leader you have to understand your people and be compassionate about their opinions. A good leader organizes and motivates, a bad leader dictates people and pushes their ideas on others. There is place for emotion but it must be controlled where it is necessary for the good of the people.

Tyrants, on the other hand, won’t get anywhere good anytime soon.

And just to add I don’t like the way you refer to ruthless people as higher personality types. That is, above all, selfish, unjust, and discriminatory.
X Fate X | Feb 04, 2010

I thought a lot of emotionally weak people already work in SS/CC etc…the other emotional retards work for Haringey council
Nicky | Feb 04, 2010

You need to be thick skinned , charismatic and able to motivate your employees. Also to remain obejctive when making difficult decisions.
NoSEY PARKER | Feb 04, 2010

Yes!
Ruthless people should not be leaders, Leaders should have emotion, but they should be able to balance what they feel and be logical too. An angry ruthless leader is not the best choice for a leader. A leader should be understanding, able and willing to see as many sides to a situation as possible and find solutions that best benefit all involved as fairly as possible. Liberals are not emotionally weak people just because they care and are not ruthless. And social services, child care, and nursing need people who can make tough decisions and handle their emotions. If a nurse or doctor was emotionally weak they would be crying and devistated every time they lost a patient to the point of not being able to do their job properly. There must be balance and emotional maturity as well as empathy and compassion and abiltity to handle emotions to make the best call and do the best job.
DazzD | Feb 04, 2010

emotion = passion
imo emotion is essential for leadership, it just needs to be the right kind of emotion.
weak emotions = sympathy, caring, selflessness, fear, contentness
strong empowering useful passion emotions = anger, competitiveness, drive, ambition, determination etc.

What does this dream mean?
So I was friends with Shrek’s human daughter (one of them) and we went to a special acadamy to learn how to use flight powers. This guy I know (I don’t like him yet I don’t hate him) was paired with me as a partner how to fly. I first jumped and moved my arms. I kept on doing that and soon I was flying in the air. I landed and winked at him. He walked away. Shrek’s daughter came to me to go home to her house after school. We went to their hut. She also had another sister and two other brothers. Shrek and Fiona had to go to the ogre market and I went with them. I bought a packet full of super power pills. I had one and I was able to predict peoples futures and know what their zodiac signs are. It was fifty bucks. There was an earthquake and we all ran to the stone tower. I gave Shrek and Fiona invincable powers. The daughters got ice and earth powers. The sons got fire and water powers. The guy from before told the girls that he liked me and flew away. Then, when we went back to the hut, the army was coming to get us. A giant donkey then came to fly us out of trouble.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh wat does this mean??

You’ve been watching to much shrek.

In Bruges

In Bruges
In Bruges (2008)

IMDB rating: 8.10

Plot: Bruges, the most well-preserved medieval city in the whole of Belgium, is a welcoming destination for travellers from all over the world. But for hit men Ray and Ken, it could be their final destination; a difficult job has resulted in the pair being ordered right before Christmas by their London boss Harry to go and cool their heels in the storybook Flemish city for a couple of weeks. Very much out of place amidst the gothic architecture, canals, and cobbled streets, the two hit men fill their days living the lives of tourists. Ray, still haunted by the bloodshed in London, hates the place, while Ken, even as he keeps a fatherly eye on Ray’s often profanely funny exploits, finds his mind and soul being expanded by the beauty and serenity of the city. But the longer they stay waiting for Harry’s call, the more surreal their experience becomes, as they find themselves in weird encounters with locals, tourists, violent medieval art, a dwarf American actor shooting a European art film, Dutch prostitutes, and a potential romance for Ray in the form of Chloe, who may have some dark secrets of her own. And when the call from Harry does finally come, Ken and Ray’s vacation becomes a life-and-death struggle of darkly comic proportions and surprisingly emotional consequences.

Planning a week-long European trip, advice needed!?
Hi there,

I am planning a week long trip in Europe from 03/13 to 03/20.

I am debating between a few destinations I want to go to. Those of you who’ve already been there, any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Option 1: Amsterdam – Bruges – Paris (Spending 2 nights at each city)
Option 2: Madrid – Barcelona – Paris
Option 3: Lisbon – Madrid – Barcelona
Option 4: Various cities in Belgium and Netherlands

I’ve been told Amsterdam and Bruges are gorgeous, but weather in March can be unpredictable.
Paris is a great city to visit, but friends told me that 2 days may not be enough.
Madrid and Lisbon would probably have best weather, but I am not interested in them as much as the other cities.

Could you list pros and cons of each option? I am especially looking for information on:
weather, travel time between cities, total cost, safety (I’m traveling alone), ease of speaking English.

Thank you so much!

Two days is not enough in Paris, unless you are satisfied with just seeing two-three sights while you are there. You can easily spend a single week in that one city alone.

Options 1 and 2 have the most travelling required. Since you are short on time, make sure that you would know how much time that would take out of your trip, including transportation to/from the airports (I presume you will not be taking the train, unless it’s a night train), checking in well in advance of the flight, etc.

Traveling between the cities will cost time.
In case of Amsterdam-Brussels-Paris, about 3 hours, each, plus time to check out of your hotel or hostel and into the new one, say you miss half a day at least.
Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona, Paris will cost more time.

if you only have one week, concentrate on the city you really want to go to, Paris. You will have more than enough to spend your time on there.
Alternative, stay in the Netherlands, in one hotel/hostel and do day trips to different Dutch and Belgium cities. Breda or Rozendaal, even Tilburg will be good for that. You avoid the time it costs to pack, check out and in and will have most of the day in the city you go to.
There will not be a big difference between the weather in Paris and Amsterdam, mostly Paris is just a few degrees warmer.

All your destinations are safe, as long as you keep to the basic safety measures, just like when you to a bigger city near home. As a woman I would not hesitate traveling to any of your destinations and I have traveled in Paris, Barcelona and most Dutch and Belgian cities over the years, also when in my early twenties.
English will not be a problem, as long as you are aware that they do you a favor, be polite about it, specially in France and Spain. Say good morning or something like that in the local language and ask if they can understand your English. In the Dutch speaking part of Belgium and in the Netherlands it will be no problem at all.

Added after reading an other answer:
Flying between Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris would be silly. The time for checkin and safety will take more time than direct travel by train, with less than four hours in case you travel from Amsterdam to Paris direct.
You can check travel times by train on the national rail planners for the country, or on the German site, which is good and works easy: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.e xe/en?newrequest=yes&protocol=http:& amp;
For flying you will have to add at least 4 hours for each flight onto the actual travel time, for the time you need to get to and from the airport and all the red tape with security and so on.
